Why Choose Mosaic Way for EMDR Therapy in Addison

EMDR therapy in Addison and North Dallas has become one of the most sought-after paths to healing for a reason: it reaches what talk therapy alone often can’t. Across the Preston Road corridor — from Addison Circle and the Village on the Parkway to Bent Tree, Prestonwood, and West Plano’s Willow Bend — high-functioning professionals and families carry stress, trauma, and burnout that quietly shape their daily lives. In ZIP codes like 75001, 75254, 75252, and 75024, the pressure to perform can make it hard to slow down and heal.

At Mosaic Way Counseling, every clinician is EMDR-trained, so you’re never referred out or placed on a waitlist for specialized care. We understand the rhythms of this area — the tech and finance professionals commuting the Dallas North Tollway to the Galleria and Quorum business district, the healthcare workers at Medical City and Baylor Scott & White Plano, the graduate students at UT Dallas — and we tailor EMDR to lives that are already full.

EMDR helps your brain reprocess stuck memories so they lose their grip, whether the source is a single event or years of accumulated stress. We work with clients across Addison, Far North Dallas, West Plano, Richardson, Carrollton, and Farmers Branch, offering sessions in person on Preston Road or securely online across Texas — a fit for busy commuters who value convenient, flexible appointment times.

Choosing Mosaic Way for EMDR means choosing a team that’s both highly trained and genuinely local. If you’ve been holding it together for everyone else, our Addison–North Dallas therapists are here to help you finally address the root, not just the symptoms.

What is EMDR?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of psychotherapy used to process traumatic events and memories. EMDR helps remove and replace negative emotional responses to triggers by creating new neural pathways. Essentially, EMDR can help you replace negative responses with rational responses to traumatic disturbances.

Goal of EMDR

The goal of EMDR is to get the client to the point where they are no longer affected by upsetting memories or situations. Through bilateral stimulation and guided reprocessing, EMDR helps the brain integrate traumatic memories in a way that reduces their emotional charge.

What is EMDR used for?

  • PTSD and Complex Trauma
  • Panic Attacks
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Phobias
  • Eating Disorders
  • Obsessions and Compulsions
  • Low Self-Esteem
  • Grief and Loss
  • Performance Anxiety

EMDR FAQs

The length of EMDR therapy varies depending on the complexity of the issue being treated. Some clients experience significant relief in as few as 6-8 sessions, while more complex trauma may require longer treatment. Your therapist will work with you to develop a personalized treatment plan.

Yes. EMDR is an extensively researched and evidence-based therapy recognized by the American Psychological Association, the VA/DoD, and the World Health Organization as an effective treatment for trauma and PTSD. All Mosaic Way therapists are trained in EMDR protocols.

During EMDR, your therapist will guide you through sets of bilateral stimulation (such as eye movements or tapping) while you focus on a specific memory or trigger. Many clients describe feeling a sense of distance from the memory, as if it becomes less emotionally charged over time.

Some of our therapists are in-network with Aetna Insurance. For other insurance plans, we provide superbills that you can submit to your insurance company for potential out-of-network reimbursement. Contact us at (214) 326-0263 for details about your specific plan.

Absolutely. While EMDR was originally developed for trauma, research shows it is also effective for anxiety, phobias, panic attacks, depression, grief, and performance-related issues. Many of our clients seek EMDR specifically for anxiety relief.
