Therapists Serving McKinney
If you live in McKinney, you probably didn’t come here for a sales pitch. You came to find out whether we can help with a specific thing.
So this page is a map. It points you to the three kinds of help McKinney families ask us about most, and it tells you a little about who we are.
McKinney clients meet with us at our Frisco office or online. If you live near Historic Downtown McKinney or off US-75, the Frisco office is where in-person sessions happen.
McKinney’s Best Rated Therapists on Google
“Erin Waldrop has changed my life. She helped me get through my husband’s passing, and she has taught me the skills to process my trauma. She’s extraordinarily easy to talk with. We mostly worked through things with conventional therapy, but with EDMR I had the biggest strides in how to process and then change behavior. This kind soul will change your life!”
“Dona Nguyen is the absolute best counselor you could ask for. Dona has the best tips and tricks for “getting out of your head” and finding a new perspective. I love how she’s more direct and doesn’t dance around issues. She explores them to help you figure out how to help yourself. She is phenomenal, and I would 10/10 recommend her to anyone.”
Three places to start
Anxiety. Worry that won’t switch off. A tight chest before work. Sleep that never quite comes. Our page on anxiety therapy in McKinney covers what sessions look like and how we approach it.
Kids and play therapy. Younger children often show hurt through behavior rather than words. Our page on child and play therapy in McKinney explains how play therapy works and what parents can expect. Some of our child therapists work with children as young as 3.
Trauma and EMDR. Some memories still feel present years later. Our page on EMDR therapy in McKinney walks through what EMDR is, and why you usually don’t have to tell every detail out loud.
How Mosaic Way started
We opened in February 2022 with three counselors rotating through subleased therapy rooms on different days. There was no big office and no established team yet.
What there was, was a belief that counseling could be done in a healthier and more personal way. In May 2023 we opened our first official office in Frisco with six team members. Today there are about 30 of us across three offices.
The name comes from a mosaic. Pieces that look broken or out of place can come together into something whole. Painful parts of a story don’t vanish, but they can become part of something that makes sense.
Grief
Grief doesn’t run on a clock. It follows a death, and it also follows a divorce, a diagnosis, a job loss, or a move away from the people you counted on.
Our therapists give that room. There’s no timeline you’re supposed to meet.
Other help at the Frisco office
Teens in McKinney ISD juggle school, sports, jobs, and a phone that never goes quiet. Some of our therapists use art, music, and writing with teens who don’t want to just talk. See teen counseling.
Couples come in over repeated fights, broken trust, or parenting disagreements. See couples counseling.
For the office-level pages, see anxiety counseling, child and play therapy, and EMDR therapy.
Not sure which page fits?
That’s common. Worry, trauma, and a child’s behavior often overlap.
A parent may call about a child’s meltdowns and find the child is scared after a car crash. An adult may call about panic and find it started after a hard loss.
You don’t have to sort that out before you reach out. That’s part of what the consult is for.
What happens after you call
You’ll start with a free 15-minute consultation. We ask what’s going on, what you want help with, and what matters in a therapist, like specialty, personality, schedule, cost, culture, faith, or language.
Then we suggest someone based on fit, not the first open slot. If cost is a concern, we may be able to recommend an associate-level counselor who offers a lower rate.
Family counseling
Families come in when the same argument cycles through the house and no one can stop it. Blended families and families working through a loss fit here too.
In a family session, the therapist slows things down so the quieter voices get heard too. The focus is on what keeps repeating, not on who started it.
Faith, if you want it
Some families want faith to be part of counseling. Others don’t. Both are fine here. Christian counseling is available on request, and no one’s beliefs are assumed.
Young adults
Young adults often land in an in-between stage. Out of school, starting work, unsure what comes next. It can feel lonely even when life looks fine from the outside.
Visits, hours, and cost
In-person sessions happen at our Frisco office. Our Frisco office is open Monday to Saturday, 9am to 8pm, and closed Sunday. Session times vary by therapist. Some of our therapists also meet by secure video with anyone located in Texas.
Our offices are built to feel warm and calm, not clinical. Entrances, parking, and restrooms are wheelchair accessible.
Sessions generally range from $100 to $200. The rate depends on the therapist’s license, experience, and the type of service. Couples and family sessions may have a different rate. We take cash, credit cards, and debit cards. HSA and FSA cards are accepted for eligible services.
We accept most eligible Aetna plans. That coverage runs through some of our associate-level counselors and licensed master social workers. They bill under a clinical supervisor. We check your coverage before you book.
Most of our fully licensed therapists are private pay. You may still be able to use out-of-network benefits. When it makes sense, we can give you a superbill. That’s a detailed receipt you send to your plan. It doesn’t guarantee you’ll be paid back.
