How We Work Together

Free Consultation

This meeting is about getting to know YOU. We want to know you and your story so that we can help you take the next step in your journey.

Match with Your Therapist

Now that we know you, we can match you with a therapist that has the skills, passion and experience to help you achieve your goals.

Therapy with Purpose

As a solutions-focused practice, we work together with you to develop a treatment plan and achieve your goals.

Burnout, pressure, and the need to keep up

Burnout and perfectionism are a main focus at this office. Long hours. A job that follows you home. A sense that you should be handling it better than you are.

Burnout rarely shows up as one big moment. It looks like a short temper, dread on Sunday night, and rest that doesn’t restore anything. Perfectionism and people-pleasing tend to sit right beside it.

Counseling gives you a place to look at what you’re carrying and decide what can be set down. You don’t need a diagnosis to start. You just need to be tired of carrying it alone.

Start with individual counseling for adults.

Young adults

Young adults come in over college, first jobs, dating, and the weight of choosing a path. Some look fine on paper and still feel stuck.

That’s worth talking about. So is the pressure to have it figured out by now.

Professionals and first responders

This office puts extra focus on support for professionals and first responders. We serve police officers, firefighters, other first responders, and their families.

Hard calls, shift work, and trouble switching off at home all come up. So does the strain on a spouse or kids who carry part of that weight too.

Family counseling

Families come in when the same conflict keeps repeating and no one can get out of it. A teen who stopped talking. A divorce. A blended family finding its feet. A loss that hit everyone in a different way.

Family sessions give each person a turn to be heard. The work looks at the pattern, not who is to blame. See family counseling.

Teens and children

Teens don’t always want to sit across from an adult and explain how they feel. Some of our therapists use art, music, writing, and movement to give them another way in. See teen counseling.

Younger kids show us what’s wrong through behavior. We offer play therapy in a dedicated play space, and some of our child therapists work with children as young as 3. See child and play therapy for Dallas families.

Couples and trauma work

Couples come in over repeated fights, broken trust, or distance that crept in slowly. See marriage and couples counseling for Dallas.

For trauma, many of our therapists are EMDR trained, and our team also uses ART, CPT, and TF-CBT. See EMDR therapy for Dallas.

How we match you

We don’t fill the first open slot. At your consult we ask what’s going on, what you want help with, and what matters in a therapist. That can include specialty, personality, schedule, cost, culture, faith, or language.

Counseling may be available in English, Spanish, Croatian, Mandarin, Portuguese, and Korean, depending on the therapist’s location and availability. If cost is a concern, we may be able to recommend an associate-level counselor who offers a lower rate.

More about the location itself is on our Addison office page.

Anxiety and worry

Worry can look like a busy mind at 2am, a tight chest before meetings, or snapping at people you love. Some people have felt it so long they think it’s just who they are.

It doesn’t have to stay that way. Sessions focus on what sets it off, what keeps it going, and what helps. See individual counseling.

Grief

Grief follows a death, and it also follows a divorce, a diagnosis, a job loss, or a move. Some losses get cards and casseroles. Others get almost no notice.

Our therapists give that room. There’s no timeline you’re supposed to meet.

What the first visit is like

Your therapist will ask what brought you in, what has been going on, and what you’ve tried. You don’t have to share it all at once.

You’ll also get a feel for whether this person is a fit. That matters, and it’s fine to say so.

Evening and Saturday times

This office is open until 8pm on weekdays and until 3pm on Saturday. Several of our therapists offer evening appointments, and those times are often in high demand.

Tell us at the consult which days work. We’ll consider your schedule when we suggest a therapist.

Couples counseling in Far North Dallas

Couples meet with us here over repeated fights, trust that was broken, or distance that crept in. One partner can start alone and bring the other in later.

Visits, hours, and cost

In-person sessions happen at our Addison/North Dallas office, 18383 Preston Road, Suite 427, Dallas, TX 75252. The office is open Monday to Friday, 8am to 8pm, and Saturday, 8am to 3pm. It’s closed Sunday. Session times vary by therapist. Some of our therapists also meet by secure video with anyone located in Texas.

Our offices are built to feel warm and calm, not clinical. Entrances, parking, and restrooms are wheelchair accessible.

Sessions generally range from $100 to $200. The rate depends on the therapist’s license, experience, and the type of service. Couples and family sessions may have a different rate. We take cash, credit cards, and debit cards. HSA and FSA cards are accepted for eligible services.

We accept most eligible Aetna plans. That coverage runs through some of our associate-level counselors and licensed master social workers. They bill under a clinical supervisor. We check your coverage before you book.

Most of our fully licensed therapists are private pay. You may still be able to use out-of-network benefits. When it makes sense, we can give you a superbill. That’s a detailed receipt you send to your plan. It doesn’t guarantee you’ll be paid back.
