You pictured this differently. Maybe you imagined that moment, baby in your arms, flooded with love and certainty. And maybe what you actually felt was something more complicated. Numbness. Dread. A rage that came out of nowhere. Scary thoughts that follow you into what should be a quiet moment.

Now you are carrying all of that, too, on top of everything else. And you have not told anyone, because how do you explain it? How do you say that the thing you waited for is also the hardest thing you have ever done?

More Than the Baby Blues

Most new mothers experience some emotional ups and downs in the first two weeks after birth. That is the baby blues, and it typically resolves on its own. Postpartum depression and anxiety are different. They are persistent, exhausting, and often isolating. They can arrive weeks or months after delivery. And they can show up even after a previous pregnancy without any of these feelings.

If any of these resonate, you do not have to keep managing alone. Postpartum depression and anxiety are highly treatable. And reaching out is not a sign of failure. It is the most caring thing you can do for yourself and your baby.

Signs it may be time to reach out:

Our Approach to Maternal Mental Health

We use a trauma-informed, whole-person approach to maternal care. Our work is not limited to postpartum depression. We support women navigating infertility, pregnancy loss, difficult birth experiences, and the identity shift that motherhood brings, because the internal experience of becoming a mother is complicated and deserves to be treated that way.

Our therapists are trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), which is particularly effective for processing difficult birth experiences and trauma that can fuel postpartum anxiety. We also draw on talk therapy, somatic techniques, and cognitive tools depending on what fits best for you.

Additional resources and peer support are available through Postpartum Support International (postpartum.net), which we often recommend as a complement to individual therapy.

A Space Built for Where You Are Right Now

Getting out of the house with a newborn or toddler is already a feat. Our Southlake office is designed to be a sanctuary, not another task on the list. We offer flexible scheduling and a genuinely warm environment where you can show up exactly as you are.

We see clients Monday through Saturday, 8AM to 8PM. We work with mothers from Southlake, Keller, Colleyville, Grapevine, Westlake, Northlake, and Trophy Club. Telehealth sessions are also available for when leaving the house is not realistic.

The Mosaic Way Difference

We limit our clinicians’ caseloads so they bring their full attention to every session. That matters especially in maternal mental health, where what you need most is a therapist who is genuinely present, not rushing you toward a resolution.

Your first step is a free 30-minute consultation. No commitment. Just a conversation with someone who understands what you are carrying and wants to help.

Frequently Asked Questions

The baby blues typically resolve within two weeks of delivery. Postpartum depression and anxiety are more persistent, often lasting weeks or months, and can interfere with your ability to care for yourself or your baby. If your symptoms have lasted longer than two weeks or feel overwhelming, it is worth reaching out to a professional.

Any time you feel like something is not right, that is enough of a reason. You do not need to wait until things feel unbearable. Earlier support leads to better outcomes, and there is no award for waiting it out alone.

Yes. With the right support and evidence-based care, most women experience significant improvement. Therapy, and in some cases a combination of therapy and medical support, can help you feel like yourself again.
