Therapists Serving The Colony

Most families don’t fall apart in one moment. It happens in the car, at dinner, in the same fight on a Tuesday night that happened last Tuesday too.

If that sounds like your house, couples or family counseling may help.

If you live near Grandscape or off SH-121, our Frisco office is where you’d meet a therapist in person. Some of our therapists also meet by secure video for weeks when getting everyone to the office isn’t realistic.

Couples counseling

Couples come to us when the same argument keeps repeating, when they feel more like roommates, or when trust was broken and no one knows what comes next.

The first visit is mostly listening. After that, the work tends to focus on the pattern under the fight. Who shuts down. Who pushes. What each person is trying to say.

One partner often reaches out first. That’s fine. You can start on your own and bring your partner in later, or not at all. See couples counseling.

Family counseling

The therapist’s job isn’t to referee. It’s to help everyone see the loop the family keeps getting stuck in, and try a different way out.

Families come in after a divorce, while a blended family finds its footing, or when a teen has stopped talking. Others come after a loss that hit everyone in a different way.

Blended families

Blending two households is hard on everyone. Kids may feel pulled between homes. Parents may disagree on rules. A stepparent may not know where they fit.

Counseling gives the family a place to sort through that without every talk turning into a fight.

Evening appointments

Two working parents and a school schedule leave few open hours. Several of our therapists offer evening appointments, and those times are often in high demand.

Bring both partners’ calendars to the consult. We’ll consider your schedule and look for a therapist whose hours fit.

Other help

Kids who can’t explain what’s wrong may do well with play therapy in our dedicated playrooms. See child and play therapy. Teens can find another way in through art, music, or writing. See teen counseling.

Stress between partners can show up as worry or sleepless nights. Our anxiety counseling page covers that. If an old hurt keeps resurfacing in fights, ask about EMDR therapy.

Why reassurance doesn't last

When a thought scares you, it’s natural to seek comfort. You check, ask, or search online until the fear eases.

The trouble is, the relief fades fast. Then the fear returns, often stronger. ERP helps you break that loop over time.

What couples counseling isn't

It isn’t a place where the therapist picks a winner. It isn’t about blame. And it isn’t only for couples on the edge of divorce.

It’s a place to slow down the fight long enough to see what’s happening underneath it. Many couples find that alone changes how they talk at home.

When one of you wants out

Sometimes one partner is ready to work on it and the other isn’t sure they want to stay. That’s more common than people think.

A therapist can help you both get clear, without pushing either of you toward a set result. Whether you stay or part, you can do it with less damage.

Parenting as a team

Many couples agree on the big things and still fight about bedtimes, screens, and chores. Those small fights add up.

Sessions can help you get on the same page, so kids hear one message instead of two.

When teens pull away

Teens pulling back is normal to a point. But silence, slammed doors, and grades dropping can leave the whole house on edge.

Family sessions give a teen a safer way to speak up. Teens can also meet with their own therapist. See teen counseling.

After a divorce

Divorce changes every relationship in a family, not just the marriage. Kids may split time between two homes and two sets of rules.

Family counseling can help parents stay steady for their kids while everyone adjusts. Kids can also meet with their own therapist.

Visits, hours, and cost

In-person sessions happen at our Frisco office. Our Frisco office is open Monday to Saturday, 9am to 8pm, and closed Sunday. Session times vary by therapist. Some of our therapists also meet by secure video with anyone located in Texas.

Our offices are built to feel warm and calm, not clinical. Entrances, parking, and restrooms are wheelchair accessible.

Sessions generally range from $100 to $200. The rate depends on the therapist’s license, experience, and the type of service. Couples and family sessions may have a different rate. We take cash, credit cards, and debit cards. HSA and FSA cards are accepted for eligible services.

We accept most eligible Aetna plans. That coverage runs through some of our associate-level counselors and licensed master social workers. They bill under a clinical supervisor. We check your coverage before you book.

Most of our fully licensed therapists are private pay. You may still be able to use out-of-network benefits. When it makes sense, we can give you a superbill. That’s a detailed receipt you send to your plan. It doesn’t guarantee you’ll be paid back.
