Alysen Hensley is a warm, approachable, and down-to-earth counselor who brings steadiness, humor, and genuine connection into every session. Clients often describe her as someone who makes it easy to exhale, someone who can sit with the hard things while also helping you find the moments of lightness in the midst of it all. She blends compassion, structure, and gentle honesty in a way that helps clients feel both safe and supported as they navigate life’s challenges.

Alongside her clinical work, Alysen supports the operational side of Mosaic Way Counseling, ensuring that clients experience the same level of care outside the therapy room as they do inside it. She brings strengths of discipline, consistency, harmony, and connection to both roles, helping clients feel seen and cared for from their very first interaction.

Alysen lives in Fort Worth with her husband, Paul, a firefighter and paramedic, their daughter, Grace, and their dogs, Kase and Ember. She loves meaningful conversations with friends, good Tex-Mex, and planning her next adventure. Her personality naturally weaves into her work: grounded, relational, thoughtful, and sprinkled with humor when it’s needed most.

“Alysen brings clarity and calm to our workflow – her organization and professionalism help us stay focused on what matters most: our clients.”

Bio & Background

Professional Background

Alysen’s experience in home health and hospice leadership shaped her deeply as a clinician. She spent years walking alongside families during seasons filled with stress, uncertainty, loss, and major life transitions. Those years taught her how to sit with people in their pain, honor the parts of their story that feel messy or overwhelming, and notice the small sparks of hope that can still live in the darkest places. That background continues to guide her work with older adults, caregivers, and individuals navigating medical challenges or grief.

Alysen also has a heartfelt passion for working with first responders, veterans, and their families. As the spouse of a firefighter and veteran, she understands the unspoken rules, emotional load, scheduling challenges, and “be tough” mentality that often follows this community. Her office is a place where first responders can drop the armor, be fully human, and finally have space to breathe. She has completed specialized trainings including IAFF’s Understanding the Fire Service for Mental Health Clinicians, and is committed to becoming an expert in first responder mental health and culturally competent care.

Alysen works with teens (16+), adults, couples, and families while completing her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Amberton University. Her therapeutic approach is trauma-informed and integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused strategies, and existential therapy. She tailors each session to the client in front of her, intentionally adjusting her approach to meet their unique needs.

In session, clients can expect a warm and grounded presence, thoughtful questions, practical tools, and moments of humor that make difficult work feel more manageable. She believes healing doesn’t have to be stiff or heavy all the time, authentic connection and even shared laughter can be part of the process.
