Maybe you’re doing well on paper, but inside, you’re much harder on yourself than anyone realizes. You replay conversations, compare yourself to other people, worry about disappointing someone, or feel like who you are changes depending on the room you’re in. For teens and young adults especially, it can be exhausting trying to keep up with school, friendships, family expectations, appearance, and everything else while still figuring out who you actually are.
Lauren enjoys working with clients in exactly these seasons. She has a particular heart for tweens, teens, and young adults struggling with anxiety, self esteem, body image, identity, or the pressure to perform. She wants counseling to be somewhere clients can sort through what is happening without feeling like there is a right answer they are supposed to find.
Her own background gives her a unique connection to clients who spend a lot of time in high expectation environments. Lauren trained in ballet for 15 years and understands how something you genuinely love can also become tied to achievement, comparison, body image, and the feeling that you should always be doing better. That experience is part of why she is especially interested in working with dancers, athletes, students, and other young people who put a lot of pressure on themselves.
Lauren is naturally curious about people, and that comes through in the way she counsels. She wants to understand why something makes sense to you, not simply tell you what you should think or do differently. Family, culture, relationships, faith, and past experiences can all shape how we see ourselves. Lauren helps clients start connecting those dots and decide what they want to do with what they discover.
Before transitioning into a clinical role, Lauren actually got to know Mosaic Way from a different seat. She served on the practice’s admin team, talking with people who were considering counseling and helping them get connected with a therapist. She heard the nervousness that sometimes comes with that first phone call and learned just how personal choosing a counselor can feel. Now, as she moves into the counseling room herself, she carries that perspective with her.
Outside of work and school, Lauren is much more likely to be found knitting, reading, baking sourdough, or searching for a good café than doing anything particularly loud. Since she trained as a ballerina for much of her life, she still has a creative side that needs somewhere to go, including the sweater she recently managed to knit herself. Her faith and time with family are also important parts of how she stays grounded. Lauren tends to appreciate the quieter things that require patience and time, which fits her approach to people too. She isn’t in a hurry to decide who someone is. She’d rather get to know them.
“Lauren’s guidance helped me manage challenges and move forward in a more positive direction.”

Bio & Background
Professional Background
Lauren is pursuing her Master of Science in Counseling at Southern Methodist University, where she is completing the Clinical Mental Health track with a focus on trauma. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Baylor University, along with a minor in Business Administration.
Before beginning her clinical training, Lauren worked in behavioral medicine research, studying topics related to stress, depression, cardiovascular health, disordered eating, and the connection between mental and physical health. She also worked directly with research participants and gained experience using supportive interviewing techniques.
Her research background sparked an interest that continues to influence the kind of counselor she is becoming. Lauren is fascinated by the connection between what we experience emotionally and what happens in our bodies. She is especially interested in trauma and body image and plans to continue growing her training in these areas throughout her career.
Specialties
Anxiety
For some clients, anxiety is obvious. For others, it looks more like overthinking, perfectionism, people pleasing, or lying awake replaying something that happened hours ago. Lauren helps clients understand what is feeding their anxiety and find practical ways to respond when their thoughts start taking over.
Self Esteem
Lauren works with clients who are quick to notice what they did wrong but have a much harder time seeing what is good in themselves. Counseling can help clients notice where those beliefs came from and begin building confidence that isn’t completely dependent on grades, appearance, performance, or someone else’s approval.
Body Image & Relationship with Food
Body image can affect far more than how someone feels when they look in a mirror. It can influence confidence, relationships, food, exercise, and whether someone feels comfortable in their own skin. Lauren is especially interested in helping teens and young adults untangle some of those messages and develop a kinder relationship with themselves.
Identity
The question “Who am I?” gets complicated when everyone seems to have an opinion about who you should be. Lauren enjoys helping clients explore their values, relationships, culture, experiences, and the different parts of themselves as they develop a clearer sense of who they want to become.
Academic & Performance Pressure
Lauren understands the strange combination of loving something and feeling enormous pressure to be good at it. Her years in ballet give her a personal understanding of performance environments, making this an area she especially enjoys exploring with students, dancers, athletes, and other high achieving clients.
Life Transitions
Growing up comes with a surprising amount of change. Friendships shift. School ends. College begins. Relationships change. Plans don’t always work out the way you expected. Lauren helps clients make sense of those in between seasons without expecting them to immediately know what comes next.
Modalities
Adlerian Therapy
Lauren uses Adlerian ideas to help clients understand how their earlier experiences, relationships, and beliefs may still influence the way they see themselves today. In everyday terms, it is a way of asking, “How did I get here, and does this way of thinking about myself still fit?”
Activity Therapy
Not every meaningful counseling session has to involve sitting on a couch and talking the entire time. Lauren can incorporate activities into sessions, particularly with younger clients, giving them another way to communicate and making counseling feel less intimidating.
Somatic Approaches
Stress and emotions don’t only happen in our thoughts. Sometimes we notice them in a racing heart, tense shoulders, a stomachache, restlessness, or feeling completely shut down. Lauren helps clients become more aware of those signals and learn ways to settle their body when things feel overwhelming.
Trauma Informed Counseling
Lauren understands that difficult experiences can affect the way people respond to situations long after the experience itself has passed. She doesn’t believe clients should be pushed into talking about something before they are ready. Instead, she pays attention to pacing and helps clients approach difficult parts of their story in a way that feels manageable.
