Before becoming a counselor, Joyce spent years working in education, where she saw firsthand how often emotional and mental health needs affected a student’s ability to thrive. While supporting both general and special education students, she recognized that many children needed more than academic support, they needed someone who could help them make sense of what they were experiencing emotionally. That realization ultimately led her to pursue counseling and develop a passion for play therapy.
Joyce has a genuine curiosity about people and believes every child, teen, and adult has a unique story worth understanding. Rather than assuming what a client needs, she takes time to learn who they are: their strengths, personality, relationships, and experiences, so therapy feels personalized and meaningful. She believes healing begins when people feel accepted for exactly who they are, and she considers it a privilege to walk alongside clients as they discover new confidence and hope.
She also has a heart for walking alongside parents and caregivers as they navigate behavioral concerns, family changes, and the everyday challenges of raising children. She believes parents and caregivers are an essential part of the healing process and enjoys equipping them with tools that strengthen connection and confidence at home.
For teens, young adults, and adults, Joyce provides a collaborative space to process identity, relationships, anxiety, and life’s many transitions. She enjoys helping clients better understand themselves while developing practical coping skills, stronger boundaries, and greater confidence in who they are becoming.
Outside of the counseling room, Joyce enjoys discovering new restaurants, reading, and spending time with friends and family. Whether she’s doing a craft, or relaxing with an iced matcha latte, Joyce appreciates the creativity and curiosity that helps her stay present, qualities she also brings into her work with clients as they grow and heal.
“Joyce’s guidance helped me manage challenges and move forward in a more positive direction.”
