If your family moved to Little Elm recently, you already know the list. New house, new school, new commute along US-380. What’s harder to see is what the move is doing to everyone inside the house.
Kids lose their old friends. Parents lose the people who used to help. Couples find out the new place didn’t fix what they hoped it would.
None of that means the move was a mistake. It means the adjustment is real, and it can be worked on.
For Little Elm families, in-person sessions happen at our Frisco office. Virtual sessions are an option too.
Little Elm’s Best Rated Therapists on Google
Younger kids tend to show hurt instead of naming it. Meltdowns. Clinginess. Stomachaches before school. A child who seemed fine last month and isn’t now.
We offer play therapy in dedicated playrooms. Toys, art, games, and stories give a child another way to show what’s going on. Some of our child therapists work with children as young as 3.
You won’t be left out of the loop. Depending on your child’s age, you may join some sessions, meet with the therapist on your own, or pick up ideas to use at home. See child and play therapy.
A new school at 14 is its own kind of hard. Teens in Little Elm ISD may be building a friend group from nothing while handling everything else.
Some teens want to talk. Others open up more through art, music, or writing. See teen counseling.
After-school slots fill fast. Several of our child and teen therapists offer after-school or evening times, so bring your family’s schedule to the consult.
If a session does land during school hours, state law is on your side. Texas public schools are required to excuse a visit with a mental health professional, as long as your child is in class for part of that day (Texas Education Code 25.087).
We can give you a note that says your child attended. It won’t list a diagnosis or anything said in session. Your school may have its own form, so ask the front office.
Moves hit parents too. Worry, burnout, and loneliness show up when your usual support is far away. See anxiety counseling.
Couples often feel it in the relationship first. See couples counseling. For trauma or hard memories, many of our therapists are EMDR trained. See EMDR therapy.
Every move has a rough patch. It may be time to talk to someone if you notice:
Kids adjust better when they can name what they miss. It helps to say out loud that moving is hard, even when it was the right call.
Keep some routines the same as before. Give kids a small say in new ones. And take care of yourself too. Kids notice when a parent is running on empty.
A move can strain a marriage even when both people wanted it. One partner may have left a job or family behind. The other may be busy settling in and miss the signs.
Couples counseling gives you a place to talk about it before resentment builds. One partner can also start alone.
Leaving a place can feel like a loss, even when the move was good. Kids may grieve a best friend or a room. Adults may grieve a church, a job, or nearby family.
Naming that loss out loud helps.
In-person sessions happen at our Frisco office. Our Frisco office is open Monday to Saturday, 9am to 8pm, and closed Sunday. Session times vary by therapist. Some of our therapists also meet by secure video with anyone located in Texas.
Our offices are built to feel warm and calm, not clinical. Entrances, parking, and restrooms are wheelchair accessible.
Sessions generally range from $100 to $200. The rate depends on the therapist’s license, experience, and the type of service. Couples and family sessions may have a different rate. We take cash, credit cards, and debit cards. HSA and FSA cards are accepted for eligible services.
We accept most eligible Aetna plans. That coverage runs through some of our associate-level counselors and licensed master social workers. They bill under a clinical supervisor. We check your coverage before you book.
Most of our fully licensed therapists are private pay. You may still be able to use out-of-network benefits. When it makes sense, we can give you a superbill. That’s a detailed receipt you send to your plan. It doesn’t guarantee you’ll be paid back.
Book a free 15-minute consultation or call (214) 326-0263. If we’re not the right fit, we’ll still help you think through another direction.
